User already has the Edit in excel - admin and edit in excel - view permission sets. After clicking edit in excel, the excel sheet opens up, but the function including new, publish, etc do not appear. Instead, a message appears: add-in information: Microsoft 365 has been configured to prevent individual acquisition and execution of Office Store Add-ins. In the Microsoft 365 admin center, settings, I enabled the let users access the office store. That toggled on enabled another user who had the same error to then use edit in excel. Any ideas how to let edit in excel be permissible for this particular user?

The issue occurs because the Office Add-in required for Edit in Excel is blocked by Microsoft 365 admin policies for that specific user. Even though you've enabled Let users access the Office Store, the user might still be restricted by a custom policy or group-based assignment that overrides the global setting. To resolve it, go to Microsoft 365 Admin Center > Settings > Org Settings > User owned apps and services, and ensure that Let users install Office Add-ins is enabled for the user's group. Also, check Integrated Apps settings and verify that the Microsoft Dynamics Office Add-in is not blocked. If needed, assign the add-in directly via Integrated Apps > Deploy Add-in.

Hello,

Regarding the issue reported with the "Edit in Excel" functionality in Business Central, although the user has the correct permission sets assigned, the error message indicates that Microsoft 365 is configured to block individual acquisition and execution of Office Store add-ins.

In addition to enabling the setting "Let users access the Office Store" in the Microsoft 365 admin center, it is recommended to verify the following:

Microsoft 365 Policies
Access the admin portal and ensure there are no tenant-wide or group-specific restrictions on the use of Office add-ins. In particular:

Go to Settings > Integrated Apps > Office Add-ins and confirm that users are allowed to install and run add-ins.

Under Settings > Org Settings > Services, check that the option "Let users install Office add-ins" is enabled.

Excel Version
Confirm that the user is working with a supported version of Excel (preferably Microsoft 365 desktop). Outdated or standalone versions may not fully support the Business Central add-in.

Office Cache
In some cases, local cache may interfere with the add-in loading. It is advisable to clear the cache by deleting the contents of the following folder:

Testing with Another User or Device

Hi,

The issue you’re seeing is tied to how the Microsoft Dynamics Office Add-in is deployed and whether the user is allowed to acquire it individually.

Even if the user has the correct permission sets (Edit in Excel – Admin and View), the Excel sheet won’t show the Publish or New buttons unless the add-in is properly installed and activated. The message you’re seeing:

“Microsoft 365 has been configured to prevent individual acquisition and execution of Office Store Add-ins”

means that centralized deployment hasn’t been configured, and individual acquisition is blocked by policy. Toggling “Let users access the Office Store” in the Microsoft 365 admin center is the right move — but it only works if the user is allowed to install add-ins manually.

To fix this for the affected user:

Go to the Microsoft 365 admin center → Integrated Apps

Use Centralized Deployment to assign the Microsoft Dynamics Office Add-in to the user directly

Alternatively, have the user open Excel → go to Insert > Add-ins > Store → search for “Microsoft Dynamics Office Add-in” and install it manually (if policy allows)

Once the add-in is installed, the Edit in Excel pane should appear with full functionality. If switching between deployment methods, note that previously created Excel files may not work until the add-in is reinstalled.
