Hi Everyone,

I'm experiencing an odd issue. When I generate a report, printing works just fine, but if I preview the report first and attempt to print the report from there, it does not toggle the printer to print the report. Attaching both of what I use in this flow.

    Hello,

This is a known, widespread bug currently affecting Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (specifically noted in versions 27.4, 27.5, and 28.0).

    Why This Is Happening

Modern Chromium-based browsers (Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge) recently updated their security policies regarding local blob handling. When you click the print icon within the built-in PDF viewer toolbar, the system attempts to fetch a temporary BLOB object (blob:https://businesscentral...). Browser developer consoles are registering this as:

Fetch API cannot load blob... URL scheme 'blob' is not supported.

Because the browser blocks this background request, the print dialog is never triggered, causing the button to appear completely non-responsive.

    Temporary Workarounds

Until Microsoft releases an official cumulative update platform patch to fix the PDF viewer's script compatibility, you can use these workarounds:

    • The Direct Print Method: As you noted, skipping the preview step entirely by clicking the Print button directly from the report request page works perfectly.

    • The Download Method: Click the Download icon (the down arrow ↓) right next to the print icon in the preview toolbar. Once the PDF saves to your local computer, open it and print directly from your local PDF viewer.

    • The Context Menu Shortcut: In some browser versions, right-clicking inside the PDF preview area and selecting Print from the browser's native context menu will successfully bypass the broken UI icon.

    •

If you have a support plan with Microsoft or a designated development partner, it is highly recommended to log a quick support ticket to help accelerate the rollout of the cumulative fix for your specific localization/tenant.

    Best regards,
