BC v27 Preview Print button not working in browser – Fetch API cannot load blob

Does anybody faced this issue?
We are experiencing an issue in Business Central SaaS (version 27.4) where the Print button inside the document preview does not work.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open any Sales Order (or any document)
2. Click Print → Preview
3. In the preview window, click the printer icon

Result:
Nothing happens.

Expected:
Browser print dialog should open.

Additional findings:
- Preview loads correctly (PDF is rendered)
- Right-click → Print works
- Ctrl+P works (but not acceptable due to formatting issues)
- Print button in UI does nothing

Developer console shows error:

"Fetch API cannot load blob:https://businesscentral... URL scheme 'blob' is not supported."
"Not allowed to load local resource: blob:..."

This indicates that the BC print service is trying to fetch a blob URL, which is blocked by modern Chromium-based browsers (Edge and Chrome).

Environment:
- Business Central SaaS (FI localization)
- Version: 27.4 (Platform 27.0.x)
- Browsers tested:
- Microsoft Edge (latest) – issue persists
- Google Chrome (latest) – issue persists
- InPrivate/Incognito – issue persists

Conclusion:
This appears to be a compatibility issue between BC v27 web client print implementation and modern browser security restrictions (CORS / blob handling).

    Hello,
yes, this looks more like a BC web client/browser compatibility bug than a report layout or printer setup issue, especially since the PDF preview renders correctly and browser-level print options still work. In standard BC, Microsoft says the preview toolbar should support Download and Print, and when the printer is Handled by the browser, the browser print dialog should open; so if the preview print icon does nothing and the console shows blocked blob: fetch/load errors in both Edge and Chrome, I would log this with Microsoft Support as a product issue for BC SaaS v27.4 / platform 27 and include the browser console errors, tenant/environment, localization, exact version, and a HAR trace. As a workaround, users can download the PDF and print it, use right-click print where formatting is acceptable, or configure Universal Print / Email Print if direct BC printing is needed, but I would not spend much time changing AL/report layouts unless only one custom report is affected.

We are currently experiencing the same issue. Have you found any (temporary) solution yet? Or forwarded it to BC support?

    Hi,
You are not the only one experiencing this issue. Unfortunately seems to be originating from Microsoft updates. Here are 3 other recent topics with the exact same issue:

Solution for now seems to be to go back to the previous print option after confirming the preview if needed.

    Hello!
    Updated information.
Right now my partner has asked for additional information about the issue to escalate it further. I sent them as follows:
Exact browser versions currently in use:  Google Chrome Version 148.0.7778.97 (Official Build) (64-bit)
Confirmation if the issue also occurs in Safari: unfortunately not available
A HAR file trace captured while reproducing the issue: attached
Confirmation whether this issue started after:
latest Business central update to current version FI Business Central 27.5 (Platform 27.0.49565.0 + Application 27.5.46862.49825) was long before the issue occurred 02.04.2026

    Regarding temporary solution they said:
    1. Right-click - Print from the preview window as a temporary workaround
    2. Press Print instead Preview and you will see kinda "preview" from printer window and decide close/print.

@Valerii Khrapal Thanks a lot for your follow up and the proposed temporary solution ! That is really helpful for me as I got the same issue and I am hoping for 28.1 to resolve the issue before updating to 28.

I tested on latest Microsoft Edge, latest Google Chrome, and latest Apple Safari. All of them have the same issue. Something had to have changed on Microsoft's CMS side in how they pass along the API calls. Tried it in our BC 27.4 sandbox and BC 27.3 production environments. Same outcomes where the functionality fails due to this error that can be seen in browser dev console.

As far as I know, this is a known issue that will be fixed in the latest version.

    Thanks.
