how to deploy model-driven apps from DEV?

So I have my solution that I build in dev, export and apply to UAT and PROD.  It holds pretty much everything -- schema, processes, assembly etc.

But what about the configuring of the "app"?  Does one have to go through each and manually make changes since none of that is in the solution?

TIA

I have the same question (0)

    Hello,

You can include app into the solution and move it as a part of it. There is a correspond node for it inside solution.

Oops!  I didn't see that.  Thank you.

    I do have a follow-up question.

In both DEV & UAT I've promoted the solution to model driven.  Now if I include that app in the DEV solution and apply it to UAT, will it update the app in UAT or create another one next to it with the same name?

I.e. should we NOT promote any of the down-the-line orgs?

It should update your existing app.

    Thanks again Andrew.

It doesn't update an existing app that was generated "locally".  Just like adding a form, if it didn't originate in DEV you end up with two, the local and the DEV.  So, it's nothing new.  No different from what we've always been doing.

    Hi,

I am having similar issue. My Solution in Dev contains an app, but when deployed in other environment no app is generated. I can see the Site Map in deployed solution, but when I go to Model Driven App section its empty.

go back to Dev, go to the Model-driven Apps section of your solution and add your app.  They are not automatically included.  Just like entities, web resources, processes or plugin assemblies, they must be added.

I have a similar question I'm hoping you might be able to help with! I created a new model-driven app because I wanted to completely restart fresh. If I add this to my DEV solution and upload it, how do I make it override the original one on my PROD site to become the new default? Do I just have to delete the old one?

Assignment/removal of security roles on the Apps under Settings->Applications->Apps then on the respective app tile the 3 dots (not available under settings Customisations/solutions).  But you also have to let your users know as they may have bookmarked the old one (and their bookmark would have the id of the old one in it)
