Shared Chart of Accounts in D365 F&O

Hello Forum,

I am new to multi country implementation in D365, hence I need to know and understand how Share Chart of Accounts can be created & identified by D365.

Is it something like the feature named as "Configure cross company data sharing" as it does sharing master data across legal entities, or is there any steps to share COA across companies, is there any feature we need to enable or it will be like creating normal chart of accounts.

The simple answer to your question is, No. it does not needs any cross company data sharing setup.

You have 3 things in Dynamics to do this setup.

1) Chart of Accounts

2) Main Accounts

3) Ledger

The first two do not carry any company context. If you create a chart of accounts(COA) or a Main Account (MA), those are available across all companies.

Once you do the setup of #1 and #2, you can attach the COA on the Ledger. Every company has single Ledger and you can attach any COA, on the Ledger.

Adding with @Sohaib Cheema Later on you can do legal entity override for a GL account if it's not relevant to other specefic company.

For example, if you have WIP-on Account in a project-based company so you dont need that account in a trading company so, you can override by Legel entity override.
