AsyncOperationBase unreasonably big

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

On Aug23 our free storage space started decreasing.

Started to look for the trouble and noticed that the only table increasing was AsyncOperationBase.

All other parts of CRM work as intended, no workload increased.

For today AsyncOperationBase in Organization Insights contain 108 row and 70GB of data (700Mb per row)

Contacted MS support, they promised to clean up table - but nothing changed and AsyncOperationBase  is growing 3-10GB per day.

Any Suggestions?

Best Practices to keep expensive CRM space as free as possible -

    1. Clear out all Completed System Jobs (delete them, we don't really need anything from that)

    2. If Audit History data is unnecessaruly turned on for entities that don't matter, delete those from the past as well (depending on your business requirements)

For #1 above, establish a Recurring Delete Job to clean the data every month.

Problem was solved in a month by Ms support.

They wrote that something happened in DB and cleaning job was stuck on some async record and couldn't delete it

    Hi,

Did you get a resolution to this issue? We are experiencing the same issue with CRM2015 on premise.

    The AsyncOperationBase

table size is growing out of control, but the record count remains consistent - at around 800 rows.

    Regards,

    Rob

That's not good. Unfortunately there is no other option. Keep chasing MS Support and escalate if possible.

Yes, we once a day ran bulk delete for completed WFs.

And registered a ticket in MS Support, but no improvement for to weeks.

Now we are using 230% of storage space and it is kind of annoying.

Have you tried running a bulk delete job? Also I presume that you have designed your workflows to "automatically delete logs" option.

Refer the below link to delete the system jobs which will in turn reduce the Aysnc table volume.

If the size does not decrease then the only option is to log a ticket with Microsoft. They will take time to purge the data but eventually they will do it.
