Subscription center link in Double opt in confirmation email

Dear D365 Marketers,

I have been wondering why am I not allowed to insert Subscription Center link into a Transactional email type Confirmation request?

When my users are subscribing to my list I woul expect to send them an email where they are allowed to access their preference center straight away.

Please advise.

Thank you all,

Catermina

    Hi Catermina,

It is by design, please refer to introduction about Transactional email from documentation:

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/marketing/email-properties#set-the-legal-designation-to-identify-each-message-as-either-commercial-or-transactional

    ----------------------------------------------------------------

Transactional messages are typically regulated differently from commercial messages. They are considered personal communications,

not promotional communications, and therefore have different content and consent requirements. In Dynamics 365 Marketing,

the main practical different between transactional and commercial messages is that different validation rules apply.

Specifically, commercial messages require a subscription-center link while transactional messages do not.

    Thank you Clofly,

Your answer makes perfect sense according to MS logic; thank you for sharing the links and the definition.

    Just as a small discussion:

I still think that this is an unnecessary restriction. I will keep it as "nice-to have" request whenever I get the chance to give my feedback on the matter. Namely, to have the freedom to decide whether I want to insert a subscription center in transactional emails to my clients.

On a user perspective having the possibility to access the subscription center right after subscribing to a newsletter, is crucial. We do not want to hide the information that we have stored after the registration submitted and we do not want to spam our users with one too many emails right after subscribing (double opt in email, raise of consent email, first subscriber newsletter email - already one too many in a week time). We want to show transparency and keep the email flow restricted to what users have subscribed to.

Any ideas, thoughts and comments are more than welcome.

    Thank you!
