Set drop ship as default on item

We use the drop ship functionality to process sales orders / purchase orders for specific items that are manufactured in one of our other facilities. These items are always drop shipped from this location. Is there a way to set an item to default to "drop ship" so that when it is placed onto the SO the drop ship is automatically checked?

AFAIK, there is no such setup available.

Unfortunately No, it cannot be setup based on Item. But you can add a customization to achieve this. Add field called Purchasing Code on the Item, and default that to DROPSHIP for the items you want to dropship always and you need to add the code onValidate of the SalesLine No. to Populate the Purchasing Code on the Sales Line based on the Item Card.

Thank you for the reply - we use an item configurator to create our items and we can set the functionality in the configuration to apply the drop ship on the line when the item is created. It is when we "reuse" an existing item that our CSR's have to always select the drop ship function - we would like to automate this and your reply looks like it may work for our scenario. Thanks again!

I do not see a field for Purchasing Code to add to the item card.

It is not available you need to add that field as part of the customization and then use that on Sales Line on the OnNoValidate to populate the value on the sales line purchasing code.
