New to the forum, hoping someone can assist me.
I need to set up field level security to make specific fields in our Accounrt record read only for the majority of users. I havedone this before and its straightforward, the issue I have is that our Account record has two statuses in the form of a custom field, the statuses are Prospect and Customer. When the Account is a prospect I need all fields to be accesible by all users, its only when it becomes a Customer that I wish to lock down the specific fielods.
Is this possible - am I able to write a workflow or business rule that allows the field level security to kick in ONLY when the status is achieved?

Business Rules and Field security won 't help you. You might need a custom javascript to enable/disable your field for certain users.

Rather than applying field level security, create business rule and set fields to be locked when status becomes customer otherwise set to unlock.

Yes, it is possible to achieve this requirement through Business Rules.
Follow the steps given above and when the statues changes to "Custom", it will be locked(read-only).
