Product categories import error with New Category Node

I’m attempting to import new product categories into an existing hierarchy using the Product categories entity in the Data Management workspace. When adding a new category node, I encounter the error:

Results. Field 'Category ID' must be filled in.
Results. validateWrite failed on data source 'SharedCategory (SharedCategory)'

Has anyone resolved this issue?

Hi,

Please ensure the parent category ID is also filled in. for the error it seems one of the shared categories is missing.

Please review all the Shared category/Project category are available in the system before importing.

The workaround for this issue is to create a new product category manually and follow the below steps to identify the root cause & fix it -

1. Create an export project in DMF and add the Product Category Data Entity.

2. Export the package/files.

3. Review & prepare the templates, and the new records (first try few sample records).

4. Create an Import Project & add the files, and import.

Alternate way is to import the records using the Excel Addin which would be very easy if you populate all the fields. Thank You

Which data entity you are using?

Seems you are using wrong data entity,y ou should use Ecores product category not related to expense or project
