Data Refresh through api

We have default data source refresh based on schedule time frequency. Is it possible to refresh the data source through an api based on an external job status? Basically an option to call data source refresh through api based on a condition which is outside CI.

I'm afraid we can only use schedule tasks to refresh data source:
