Hello. How could someone would restrict Main Account Posting into Posting Layers?
If we created new Main Accounts, could we implement restrictions so that the new Main Accounts could not be posted into the Current Layer but could be posted into other Posting Layers?

Right. I'm used that customers use posting layers for incorporating different Gaap. If your customer want to record some special transactions I would personally not use posting layers but I don't know all the things you and your customer already discussed.
Do you have some examples for what they need the posting layer? That is, what are examples of those special transactions?

Hi Dr. Ludwig. Thank you for your response. Client is asking about this. Some accounts hold entries that are used for specific Financial Reports but are not part of the standard ledger.
Yes, we have thought about using report definitions (FR/MR) that include and/or exclude specific accounts and/or posting layers as needed for a specific situation. Is this what you are suggesting to incorporate different accounting regulations? By accounting regulations, do you mean things like GAAP, IFRS?

I'm wondering for what specific purposes you don't want to have people posting transactions at the current player?
An alternative to making posting layers is using specific accounts for example to incorporate different (parallel) accounting regulations. The standard application allows you restricting the access to accounts without modifications.
Also think about the year end closing voucher and the separation of results for different layers when making use of posting layers

The option mentioned by Sunil is a way to prevent using them in journals. There is no option to check the use of ledger accounts for automated transactions. Also, the setup for journal control should then be done on every journal name which is a lot of setup and maintenance when the chart of accounts is changing.
Possibly, you can consider a customization to have an additional setup on the main account like the user and posting type validation and then also have additional checks in the validation and posting logic.
