How to change logic for TransactionID in retail transaction

Hi,

Is it possible to change format of TransactionID for entries in Retail Transaction.

I know there is setting in Functional profile that relates to RetailTransactionTable.ReceiptId but my question is about RetailTransactionTable.TransactionId.

    Hi, Crispin,

My question is not for properties of the field in the table, but for numbers generated in RetailTransactionTable.ReceiptId field. Is there number sequence or mask?

    How the numbers are generated?

In CONTOSO demo database transaction numbers look like this "SEATTLE-444829". In my customer database the numbers obviously consist of 3 sections - store, register and number (example: "STORE03-STORE03REG05-33999").

You are correct. The transaction ID is comprised of the Store, register and transactionid.  This goes towards avoiding creating duplicate IDs in the event that multiple registers may be used for one transaction.

I believe that this is generated using the RetailTransactionID EDT.

I'm not sure how you are seeing that format for Seattle in a Contoso VM unless you're missing a dash.  I went ahead and took a look for Seattle and see that the RETAILPOSSEEDATA data shows the transactionID generated will be:

    SEATTLE-SEATTLE-1-5

You might be able to modify the/a EDT to create a variation in the transactionID or just modify the formatting, e.g., in Contoso, it doesn't need to be Seattle-1 though that has benefits.  It could be S1.

The receipt ID has a format control within the functionality profile but without a modification, I don't believe there is standard way to change the formatting of the transaction ID.
