Embed Excel workbook with D365 data connector into another Excel workbook

Hello,

I have a staging in Dynamics F&O that I want to open in Excel, and then edit and publish data back into the staging table in D365.

I want to embed this Excel into another, existing Excel workbook, while maintain the data connector to the staging table. I only want to view the data for one specific D365 legal entity.

However, I have not had much luck because I cannot seem to be able to merge the D365 Excel workbook to my existing workbook. Nor can I create a new connection in my existing Excel workbook with the single legal entity filter.

This page has not proved very useful when it comes to filtering only on one specific legal entity.

In short, is there a way I can simply open the entity-specific D365 page in Excel, and then merge it with my existing Excel workbook?

    Hi jwell22,

Have you considered moving all of your existing Excel workbook to the workbook created when you use the Open in Excel feature? You can then save or store it, reopen and refresh data whenever you need.
Depending on what data entity you used, you can set a filter in the Dynamics 365 connector for limiting data based on one legal entity.

Unfortunately, you cannot directly merge a D365-generated Excel workbook with another workbook and retain the live data connector and publish capability.

But I would love to know if you find the answer

    Thanks
    Ramesh

Thank you both for your responses and your help.

I had indeed considered simply moving by existing workbook to the newly-created workbook; but this didn't seem like the most efficient method. I was also a bit concerned about the Excel breaking with all the formulas and lookups. I will try it nevertheless.

As for the legal entity, when I open the D365 table in Excel (via D365, not via Excel O-data feed), it only opens it in the legal entity that I required, which is what I need.
