Purchase Order line very slow update after editing

Hi everybody

I've this problem that is growing up and locking our activities.

We often produce a great number of rows for every purchase order. and when we work in these orders Ax is very slow in updating the row: it takes about 15 seconds and more whenever I move from the edited line to the next one.

I traced AX and I can see it spends all the time to recalculate total amounts and VAT amounts because it executes them for all the lines of the order.

Does anybody have the same problem? Did you solve it?

Thanks in advance

Stefano

Other way to improve the performance is to have regular maintenance of database by have periodic re-indexing of DB

I suggest you should have at least twice in a month re-indexing of DB

Please verify and update us if this works for you.

    Hi Stefano,

I think the recalculation is caused by the fact box with the totals. You can hide this fact box. Then the recalculation sshold be skipped. You then have to use the Totals button on the Purchase order menu-tab to see the totals.

In addition: there were some performance problems related to Sales Tax calculation as well. Multiple issues were resolved in CU5 for AX 2012. Which version are you using?

Thanks everybody for your interest and your suggests.

    I reply immediately to some:

    • I have R2 CU6 installed
    • I reindex once every week
    • there should be no customization in this part, but I'll verify
    • I'll try to close the fact box and see if betters the performance

Thank you very much for your help :-)

    Stay tuned

    Stefano

    Hi Stefano,

Please update once you have some results. Related to indexes: did you setup a fill factor for the indexes?

I got the same problem in AX2012 CU8, I confirm that everytime you update a purchase order line (change the price) and the purchase order has a lot of row (> 150 or > 200) the process is really slow, 10 seconds or more.

This is caused to a call to the PurchCalcTax class, that is computing taxes. And I don't think these values are ever used in this procedure.

    Someone has solved the problem?

There is a Microsoft Hotfix (don't remember the KB) that try to solve this issue, but with very poor results (in my environment the row edit time changed from 7 seconds to 6 seconds)

The only way that I have found to solve the issue is to bypass the updateDistribution call (of the header) in the purchLine table update, but you have to be sure that you call that at least once before closing the form or switching to another purchase order.

In that way you will have to wait the 7 seconds just once
