I am not sure what the requirement is, but i have used Custom WF using Action to Pick up the word template in the memory stream and then traverse through the word template, replacing the placeholders to actual values from the record it was called and then added page number/s to the word templates that user requested for number of copies of the document, convert it back from memory stream to pdf and throw in browser to download. So I believe if you are looking for the contents inside the word template it is possible and then copy that to email body.
