Dynamics 365 App for Outlook - Search functionality

Hello,

Does someone know how the search functionality of the Dynamics 365 App for outlook works?

I've added some fields to the contact and account lookup view, but it does not seem to correctly search on these fields.. if you want to have a result the text needs to be exactly the same as the one in the search field, is there no wildcard?

For a contact, with a fullname, you might not find the contact, if you type the last name, but if you type the first name + last name , you can find him... is this logic?

Tx,

Henry

    Hi Priyesh ,

Sorry , I am not the question owner. I consider the owner may not manually add the mentioned field as Find Volumes.

    Regards

    Johnny

    Hi Priyesh Wagh,

Yes. If we manually add above mentioned fields into Quick Find View as View Columns& Find Columns , they could also been searched in APP for Outlook. While this need to be manually added by customer first. Appreciate for your reminder.

    Best Regards

    Johnny

    Hi Johnny,

have you also included those fields in the Quick Find view of the entity? Also, they need to be enabled for searching.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi hhertogh,

Firstly , I just tried that I could normally use Categorized Search in App for outlook as follow.

    Hi.PNG

The I need to classify not all fields could be indexed. When you enter a value in the search box, (eg)you can search for Contact data stored in the field like Full name, Company, Department, and Business address. You can’t search for data stored in the Tracking status, Business phone, or Email fields which is also confirmed from official.

    Regards

    Johnny

Make sure Relevance Search is turned on for the entities you are trying to search for in D365? Once you turn this own, select the entities from where I marked using the arrow

    selectedEntities.png

Post that, make sure your entity is listed on the top 10 list so that they appear in D365 App For Outlook -

I also suggest post this, you re-publish the Dynamics 365 App For Outlook from the Apps area in D365 and restart Outlook/clear browser cache is you're using OWA.

    Hope this helps
