Hello all,

I am getting this error when I try to install Async Service or Real Time Service: There is a problem with windows installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor.

I am using AX 2012 R3 CU12

So far I tried:

- Enabling Named Pipes

- Installing SQLCMD Cmdline Utilities (x86 and x64)

- All the prerequisites need for the install

I also tried using Powershell and got an Error Code 2.

What am I doing wrong?  How can I get Real Time Services installed?

    The issue here is that Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3 is not compatible with Windows Server 2016.  So people, DO NOT install AX on Windows Server 2016, only install it on Windows Server 2008 or Windows Server 2012.

    I wish I read more to know this.  This is a helpful hint for you all for the future.
