Tier 1 or Tier 2 environment on LCS

Posted on by 4,125

Hi,

How can I tell whether the environment is Tier 1 or Tier 2?

In LCS, I can see

Dynamics 365 Operations Sandbox: Standard performance test

Dynamics 365 Operations Sandbox: Standard acceptance test

Dynamics 365 Operations Sandbox: Develop and test

Thanks,

Perhaps the "Azure Resource Group" is the old topology for the environments. I think newer environments are running on Service Fabric. But when you deploy the system, you have no control over such thing.

I look at the spreadsheet for some of the Tier 1/2 environments, they mentioned "Azure Resource Group", any difference between the one with Azure Resource Group and the one without? Apparently Production environment is with Azure Resource Group.

    Hi Yuji,

One Tier1 system and one Tier2 system are included in a D365FO subscription without any additional cost.

Additional environments can be activated only by purchasing a monthly license from Microsoft. The customer needs to pay a fixed price every month, no matter if the environment is running or not. So, you can keep the systems running.

Thanks, one more question, in terms of costing, how do these Tier * environment cost? Even they are running, are they still charging or like cloud hosted environments, only charge customers when they are up and running?

"Sandbox: Develop and test" is a Tier 1 system.

"Sandbox: Standard acceptance test" is a Tier 2 system.

"Sandbox: Standard performance test" is a Tier 4 system.

You can find the information here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/unified-operations/fin-and-ops/imp-lifecycle/environment-planning
