If my client has files on their Local hard drive and I want to automatically read those files into FO Tables, what's the best way to do that?
In 2012 you could just read directly from the local hard drive.

    Hi,
You can refer to this official document: Data import and export jobs overview - Finance & Operations | Dynamics 365 | Microsoft Learn You can use the data management framework to manage data entities and data entity packages in finance and operations. To create and manage data import and export jobs, you use the Data management workspace. By default, the data import and export process creates a staging table for each entity in the target database.
    Best regards,
    Kevin

Yes, but can the task be auto-mated or does the user have to upload manually - that's what I want to get away from - user interaction

    Hi,
If you don't want manual processing, you can use power automate, which allows you to set up automated processes without requiring too much manual work. Please refer to this link for details: Microsoft Power Automate – Process Automation Platform | Microsoft.
    Best regards,
    Kevin

You could automate this by adding a onedrive folder to the users profile, which appears to them as a drive, and as the other answers say, create power automate or logic apps which use the onedrive connector to read the files.

Everything else you need for the workflow you can figure out from your specific requirements, but that's a good the high level solution.
