Faulting application: Ax32.exe

Hi, this is another 'faulting client application' post [1], [2].  Any suggestion or observation most welcome.

Upon apparently randomly using the AX client it will freeze and the users will require to close the application.  It is not possible to reproduce the error exactly but I do have the following observations:

  • The errors have started from yesterday afternoon.
  • We have these errors occurring across multiple instances of AX, on different machines.  Production and Development servers.
  • These errors occur at random times, and is not associated with a specific functionality from within the client.
  • We have restarted both SQL and AOS services in production without resolving the error.

Looking at the logs of each machine I have noticed an error related to the domain controller from the SQL Sever machine:

Actve Directory Replication Latencey / Name Resolution failure....

The error crash information from two different AX instances are below:

Faulting application name: Ax32.exe, version: 6.2.1000.1437, time stamp: 0x51c95f38

Exception code: 0xc0000005

Fault offset: 0x00a663d1

Faulting process id: 0x1684

Faulting application start time: 0x01cee5e5504f46b7

Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Dynamics AX\60\Client\Bin\Ax32.exe

        â€¢    Symptom - Exception Code: c000041d
        â€¢    Cause - The issue KB2878051 build 6.2.1000.2473

Kevin Kidder's answer appears to be our first point of call with perhaps reference to The client crashes in WPF code when opening and closing sales orders from the all sales orders form knowledge base article.

A Microsoft Support Ticket has been raised, and the response suggested is to download the latest kernel provided as a link in the email.

@Dick. The event logs did not pick up anything grievious except for those indicated in the first message of the Application crash.

@Umesh. We followed the Microsoft support instructions and have applied the kernel patch.  It was a quick repsonse!

    Thanks.
