AX 2012 Retail POS: "RetailTransaction" table

Hello everyone,

I'm investigating an issue in one of the store databases used by a customer. The thing is that the database is abnormally increasing, so it becomes useless in POS.

I got the top tables in disk space usage, and I find very interesting one of the tables called RetailTransaction. This table usually has only about 3-8 records, but occupying up to 5 Gb of disk space. I'm finding hard to find information about this table and what acctually does in Retail process.

Can anyone give me a little information about this?

Thanks.

    Hi Jonathan,

RetailTransaction table save the current information of the transaction at POS.

For instance if you are doing any sales transaction at POS - Added Customer, Added item but not committed the transaction then the data will appear in the RetailTransaction . Once you commit the transaction this will be deleted. If you have records in this table then this might have caused due to closing the POS application through Task manager when there was a running transaction on it or any cause of sudden closure of POS application or there might be a transaction currently happening on the POS screen. I dont recommend deletion of the records from this table as there might be a sales transaction running. Make sure that the store operations are not happening and then delete the records.

    Hi Jonathan,

Set up the 'Days transactions exist' on the functionalty profile which will automatically clean up the database tables when ending the shift.
