Adding field in DimensionValueDetails form and depending on it changing in salesorder!! (working in financial dimensions)

Hi all

I was working on financial dimensions in Custtable,salestable,i came to know that they have used the class DimensionDefaultingController and used the tab controller and filling it in custtable and selected values is default showing in salesorder(Salestableform) using the method initfromcusttableIL METHOD IN salestable(.What my requirement is actually is i need to add one field in DimensionValueDetails (right click and view details any financial dimensions u will see that form ) and if that dimensions is checked i need to make my the default filling to stop in salestable....How can i relate DimensionValueDetails form to salestable or custtable...any idea how to approach this problem!!

CustTable and SalesTable have DefaultDimension field, which contains a RecId of DimensionAttributeValueSet table. You can even use it to go directly to DimensionAttributeValueSetItem table, which contains actual references to DimensionAttibuteValue table.

See default dimension is getting populated through DimensionAttributeValueSet and DimensionAttributeValueSet Item table combination value.

Make sure same dimension combination can exist in different master like PO/Vendor etc. Do you need global logic as per your setup or need only on SO UI.

If you need only SO UI please mapped your default dimension with your custom code

like \Classes\DMFDimensionHelper\generateDefaultDimension

So if particular dimension is marked as true don't pass it to create a combination recid. It should be empty.

So i can add my field for my checkbox in DimensionAttributeValue table and do my validations for showing in salestable there itself right?

Technically you can add fields to DimensionAttributeValue table. Whether it's the right thing to do depends on your actual requirements.

In either case, you should be careful with changing these things and because you're obviously not familiar with the framework, you probably shouldn't do it in this moment. For example, are you aware of company-specific overrides of dimension values?

No martin i have no info on company-specific overrides of dimension values so how can i proceed? if i should not touch the "DimensionAttributeValue" table !! Thanks for your valuable input

If you want some additional information without change the table, you can create a new table.

Nevertheless I would have to know much more about your requirements and restrictions to be able to suggest specific architecture. This is not a place such details.
