Subgrid

Hi

In my Sub grid, on click of the  '+' button on the top right of the grid, when selected this invokes a search function where I can search for existing records to attach to my parent record.  I don't want this behaviour to prevail, I want the '+' button to open a new form for completing a new record.  I have other sub grids in my solution that work the way I want but I see nothing obvious to help me do this.

I have been told to look at the metadata, but where and how?

thanks Darren

    Hi Darren,

Is this an OOB sub-grid or something that has been customized?

For 1:N relationships, it depends on the field requirement level.
Try setting the related entity's lookup field to "Business Required" in field customization and then check the sub-grid (+) button behavior.

Ex. Account has a sub-grid for Contact, we will set the Account Lookup field in Contact entity to be business required.

If the Relationship between the 2 Entities is N:N it will give only the "Add Existing" button.
Ex. Check Opportunity to Competitor. 1st you may have to add the Competitor to Form Navigation items.

    Hope it helps.

    Thank you Aamer

this works, I sssume it means the business require refers to the look up filed in the child record?

Good to know that it works.

Yes, the lookup field requirement will be at the child entity level.
