Early Opt-In for the Dynamics 365 2019 wave 2 (October 2019)

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

HI,

in the official documentation from Microsoft regarding the early Opt-In (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-platform/admin/preview-october-2019-updates#when-will-the-2019-release-wave-2-features-be-enabled) there are some inconsistencies mentioned.

1104.pastedimage1567500926805v1.png

On the one side, it is said, that the updates will be enabled on the mentioned dates and will be available on monday.

But below, it is mentioned, that "If you want to enable the 2019 release wave 2 features (end user impacting only) before the update reaches your region, you can enable the updates yourself by opting in to the 2019 release wave 2 update between February 1, 2019, and the date your region will be scheduled to have the features turned on."

Beside of the fact, that most probably February 1, 2020 is meant, what - if at all - will exactly happen to an org, that have been enabled for the update before the date mentioned above? Will the updates be availebe there  directly, or only after the dates mentioned?

Can anyone of you answer this question with 100% accuracy please? I have been asked from one of our customers to enable the wave 2 ca. two weeks before the date mentioned fro MIcrosoft and he was asking, if the new features will be available directly on that date, or only after the date mentioned by Microsoft in their release plan?

Thank you all in advance!

    Hi Maciej,

    • Starting with February 1, 2019, you could choose whether to enable the preview of 2019 release wave 2.
    • For Europe, in Fri, Oct 18 to Sun, Oct 20, your instance will impose 2019 release wave 2 forcibly.

This is the difference between these two events.

After enabling the preview of 2019 release wave 2, your instance will get some of the new features of 2019 release wave 2.

    From https://docs.microsoft.com/zh-cn/dynamics365-release-plan/2019wave2/features-ready-early-access#dynamics-365-for-customer-engagement-apps

Between February 1, 2019 and Fri, Oct 18, the Microsoft team will improve the new features based on feedback from users who have enabled the preview.

In Fri, Oct 18, all the Europe instances will officially install 2019 release wave 2.

Note that after enabling the 2019 release wave 2 update, it can’t be turned off.
