GP power tools error

Hello Experts,

I am getting the following error message when i try to log into my GP

GP Power Tools Logging Folder \\192.168\Disks\Reports\Powertools\ does not exist or does not have write permissions enabled. Using Application Data folder instead.

Use the Logging Settings window to set Logging Folder to a UNC Pathname to a folder on a network share with write permissions.

Our IT did the following (’ll be running a TreeSize scan but this is the second time it’s filled up from normal use.) but we see it almost on daily basis now any one why ?

    Hi Eishak

The best way to get support for GP Power Tools is via our website Contact Us page (www.winthropdc.com/contact.htm) or via email using support at Winthropdc dot com.

The Logging Settings window has the path which should be a UNC path to a share with everyone having full control. It should also have space on the drive.

If you are filling the drive, please look at the contents of the folder in last modified order and see what is being written. You might have turned on logging and be recording logs.

Also make sure that the system is set for daily GP Power Tools logs so that it cleans up old logs.

Please contact support if you need further assistance.

    Kind regards

    David

that is most likely a permission issue where the shared location (folder permissions) does not have "write" access for authenticated users (or any user group by that matter that are GP users, using their Windows identity).

The path address has 192.168. Shouldn't It have a full IP address with 4 digits, or a machine name?

Hi David, i think the machine name/ip is marked over in blue in the screenshot

    :-)

Your original post had the path : \\192.168\Disks\Reports\Powertools\

likely either you typed that wrong or if you wanted to keep it generic, just replace the real server name something like "myservername"..
