Anyone know if its possible to copy a search rule from one search topic to another and still maintain the analytics history?
For example I added an uncategorised search topic for 'Company X' that also included a search for items for 'Company Y', a competitor. I now realise, that in order to separate sentiment between Company X and Company Y, I should have added 'Company Y' to a separate topic under the competitor category. I therefore want to 'move' the search rule(s) for 'Company Y' into a search topic on its own without losing all previous tracked social posts and analytics that have been tracked for 'Company Y'...
Is this possible? Apologies if I have made it sound more complex than it is..happy to clarify
The safest approach is to create the topic for Company Y, and copy the queries from Company X. When you have validated in the dashboard that the posts for Company Y are shown - you may have to refresh the browser - you can delete the queries for Company Y from Company X.
Adding the queries to the "Company Y" topic before removing them from the "Company X" topic is not strictly necessary, but I would do so for my peace of mind :)
Background information
When you create a new topic, this topic will not only acquire new posts, but also match posts already existing in your solution. Posts that don't match a topic anymore are not automatically deleted from your solution, as opposed to posts matching the "Blocked Content" configuration.
Also, having two search topics with equal rules will not double the posts (or the post count against your quota); one post matching multiple topics will only exist and be counted once.
