Additional Personal Contact Relationship Types

is it possible to create additional personal contact relationship types other than those that are already defined. Under the Organization Setup > Relationship Types screen I have created a couple of new Person to Person relationships. However, when I attempt to select them under the Personal Contacts of an employee the relationship types are not listed.

Using the DMF gives the following message:

Results. Relationship type Doctor is invalid for a personal contact.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
