I’m using NAV 2009 R2, W1 database version (both classic client & RTC).
The database comes with the ENU language but I need to use it also with a French and German language.
Therefore, I download the FRA and DEU language modules from partnersource and install them into the database.
Now finally I need to translate the captions of all objects (field, form, report, etc..) but I could not find the translation files to import into the database. I look for these files in the partnersource site without results.
Does someone can help me?

Hi,
in the language pack there is a .flm file which has to be imported into the database. Usually you do this in the object designer, with the menu Tools->Language Module->Import.
There is a "parameter", though:
- Only the objects which are selected will be touched. This can be handy, but also means you have to select all objects when you want to import into all objects.
Also, there is one source of problems: When you have modified standard option fields and/or modified standard forms, the OptionCaptionML is not in the right form for the newly imported language module. These have to be modified afterwards. If not you get an error message when opening/using the form/table in the new language layer.
with best regards
Jens
Hi Nev,
this is not we need. We have already installed the language module but now the labels of fields are not translated.
I remember that microsoft provides a txt file with translations of the standard objects (w1 version) that you can import into the database (Tools-->translation-->import).
thanks
Giuseppe
Hi
You can find the language modules here
Cant help with the loading though as it has been a while since i looked at that
Cheers
Nev
Thanks for your reply, but the problem regards the translation of database objects and not translation of the client.
The language modules are used for the client, but at the end you need also the translation of the objects ( for example, "Customer" in english, "Kunde" in german, "Client" in french).
For the translation of table fields, form, report and so on, there are specific translation files that you can import into the database, and the problem is where we can find these file, because I could not find them on the microsoft partnersource site.
Im also a relatively new user for NAV 2009 R2. My understanding of your situation might not be correct but If I need to change from one operating language to another, I click on tools > language> choose the language. Everything will change depending on the language you chose. Since you have already imported in your database the language module, you can easily change to the english or local language.
me to,
wait for answer....
I need a solution to this issue too.
Thanks
Giuseppe
