In D365F&O, for the embedded Power BI report, is we should have the below things:

1. Data entity store (AxDW)
2. Azure App registration
3. Power BI.com configuration to define application id etc
4. And report will run through "Open report catalogue"
If anything I missed please add

    Hi,

Is your question related to configure embedded Power BI for a development environment? If so, what type of development environment are you using? Cloud hosted (LCS), a new UDE (PPAC), or a local VM?
For Tier2+ (sandboxes and production) environments, all pre-requisite setup is configured during deployment.

    Thanks Everyone for the reply.

Andre- As mentioned "Cloud hosted (LCS), a new UDE (PPAC), or a local VM?"
I used Cloud hosted environment (LCS)

I have found very useful below link shared by Aymen.

My query is , if I used either UDE or Local VM, Is the above link can I apply for any environment (UDE or Local VM)?

Please give me the thoughts. thanks!

For PowerBI Embedded within D365 FO, you need the following
    1. App registration in Azure portal with administrator granted to the user planning to publish the reports from Dynamics 365 FO.
    2. Setup PowerBI.com in D365 FO using the App registration id and client secret key. At this stage for authentication and for accessing the app registered with the PowerBI APIs you will be able to access from D365 FO.
    3. Post this step, ensure that you are able to authenticate successfully within D365FO. Later, based on this ensure that you have published the PowerBI report files under System Administration -> Setup -> Deploy PowerBI Files.

    4. Go the entity store under System Administration -> Setup -> Entity store and then set the refresh parameters for the entity store and choose the entites you wish to publish. Once done, check if the data shows up in the workspaces section.

Once you publish the measures, the data is populated from the AxDB database to the AxDw database. This populates the data into the PowerBI reports embedded within the Workspaces section. This scenario is applicable for Local VMs.

For UDEs, you will need to setup the first 4 steps mentioned above in the Tier-2 environment instead, however for navigating into the reports or for modifying the reports you will need to use the host machine where you Visual studio sits. In addition to this, you will need to download and setup PowerBI desktop on your host machine.

Hope this helps. Happy to answer questions, if any.
