How do I add a license plate that is not currently in inventory in a cycle count in D365?

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Our company is going live with D365 in 5 weeks. During cycle counts, there used to be an option on the warehouse mobile device to add a license plate and quantity after all counts in a location were complete. We made some changes tot he original out of the box setup for cycle counts so that multiple employees can do cycle counts at one time using work templates. After making this change, the option to add license plates no longer appears on the warehouse mobile device.

My question is, how can my cycle counters add license plates and quantity to D365 during a cycle count? Does the Spot Cycle counting feature accomplish this goal? I've tried to play with spot cycle counting after our consultants reccomended it but I'm not able to add license plates and inventory to D365 using this feature.

    Hi Radiohead1232,

You are spot in saying that we get option to add missing license plates after counting is completed in the warehouse app.

I am getting the same in spot counting as you can see below.

As you mentioned that you have done some customization, I suspect it could be the reason of its disappearance. If you still cant get the option as I can then let me know I will help you with part of code which controls this to check in your environment.

Are you sure you are counting to a license plate enabled location?  This is set up in the location profile associated with the location.  To verify this you could also do a counting journal in D365.  It should require a license plate if everything is set up correctly.
