Hi,
we need to upgrade data from AX 2012 R3 to dynamics 365 finance & operations. but we already have two partitions . so that we can't complete our upgrade cycle.
so, we tried to delete one partition but unfortunately we know that we can't delete partition in ax 2012. so, what is the availability to delete one partition from AX 2012 (which is additional) and Keep the another one to be to complete data upgrade process.

As mentioned in Microsoft's documentation, we cannot delete partitions.

But through some blogs, there are some MVPs that can delete it by creating scripts. Personally suggest that you keep it.

Hi Gina,
Next to a full data upgrade, you can also consider moving settings, master data and opening balances. It would be compared to a data upgrade more work, but you would have the opportunity to clean up data and where needed, you can change some settings and procedures.
If you have a partition created which was never used and is obsolete, you can use the script as provided above by Blue Wang. It is needless to say that you have to test it very carefully and make a backup before you upgrade the production database.
I know the script was working on a demo database, but not sure what would be the impact on real-life data and not sure if it is compatible with all customizations. Using the script would be at your own risk.
