Standard Costs for Purchased Item Variants

How does anyone else maintain these?

Yes, there is a checkbox for "Use cost price by variant" on the FastTab for Manage costs in Released product details.

I see that I can maintain a Trade Agreement for the Purchase Prices by Variant.  But, I did not find a way to move those Trade Agreement Prices into the Costing Version for Standard Cost.

I could add the variant costs manually to the Costing Version.  That seems like the best available method in the user interface.

I could create a Costing version of Costing type: Planned Cost and bring in the Trade Agreement prices by variant there.  But I would need to leave it in a status of Pending and wouldn't be able to activate it.

I know that I can set a Calculation Group to use a Cost price model of Trade Agreement.  But, the settings in the Calculation Group appear to be ignored when doing a calculation for a Costing version with a type of Standard Cost.

Is there more to consider? Thanks in advance.

    Hi,

I did not fully get your issue. Is it that you need a mass price activation tool or something else? Ludwig

Thanks.  My question could have been more general.  How best does one use Purchase Prices from Trade Agreements as the basis for updating Standard Costs in a Costing Version?

When Trade Agreements are not used and there are no variants, then Purchase Prices on the Released Products ("Item Master") form can be brought in to the Costing Version for Standard Cost through the Calculation process.

There are no feature for updating standard cost based on trade agreements. The cost price on the item is what is used for standard cost...

Why are you using standard cost anyway?

Maybe you want to use another costing type like FIFO or weighted average?
