Cost break down on COGS

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by 465

We are a manufacturing company that produce products with 4-level BOMs.

We would like to analyze our COGS and break it down to material, labor, machine and sub contractor costs. I know this cannot be done in standard AX 2012, and I know that we can get some help from the costing report, but that isn't linked to actual sales, which is something we would like to see.

Is there any third party solution to solve our "problem"?

How does everybody else do, how can you manage with standard AX, when we think we can't?

/Henrik

Henrik, we have a standard product entitled CostConnect that will provide you this, you can reach me at agalinot@sikich.com and  can get you information about the product.

    Hello Henrik,

Why is it that you can't get this information from AX? There are a number of settings available that might help. In addition for AX2012 there are a couple of cubes available for inventory and production. Have you already taken a look at them? Ludwig

In AX 2009 it wasn't possible and I can't see any changes to postings in production module in AX 2012. Eveyone I talk to says it's not possible.  If you have a solution I would be more than happy to talk to you about it.

    Hello Henrik,

I cannot tell you in detail whether all information is available in the standard production cube.

    For reference, please see technet.microsoft.com/.../jj710386.aspx

Yet, the cost behavior and the cost group type available in the cost group form appear to me the information you are looking for.

For that reason, I believe that you can get the information you are looking for with a detailed production setup and (possibly) minor enhancement of the standard cube.

I would give it at least a try before investing much money in an add-on.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

Hello Ludvig Thanks for your answers. The fact that you are referring to the production cube tells me that is not information we are looking for. We would like to drill down or break down the costs of goods sold not produced.

Hi Henrik, I was wondering if you were ever able to find a solution to your problem?

My business is experiencing a similar problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    Chloe
