Licensing questions

Hi,

I want to ask what is the logic around licenses as I have taken sales trial and project operations trial versions just to try them out.

I have added project entity from project operations app to sales sitemap

I have given User A only licenses to Sales and security roles both for sales and project operations

now the user can access both sales and project operations entities

what is the idea about licensing are they built on trust? as far as I can see I can use project operations functionalities with sales license just by adding user appropriate security roles.

Could someone explain me idea behind this? how Microsoft is dealing with cases like this?

Same idea for team member license

I have the same question (0)

    Hey John!.

There are some tables that are restricted and require a license in order to be unblocked at tenant level.  For example, Project Tables.  Once the license exist, those tables are available in environments.

Indeed, after that is done, Microsoft trusts you'll proceed accordingly to the Terms of Service:  Yes, you can create a custom security role (or assign additional security roles) and edit the navigation. But of course, that's against the Terms.  Also, if in the future, Microsoft adds some sort of additional validation, those users would be affected by such enforcement.

    Regards,

    Hi John,

I think that you have added the user in the environment (Trial version) and assign to him a security role that permit him to acess in bith systems then he can read and write the entities of both systems.

I think that's due to security role of the user

Yes that far i know, but why can I access functionalities of project operations, while only having sales license, just by adjusting some security roles?

    Hi John,

I think that if you will buy for your user a Project operation Licence, you will benefit for a discount in Dynamics 365 Sales Licence.

If you want use the two systems, you need two licences (Project operations and Dynamics 365 Sales)

You can consult the details of pricing in this link.
