A duty is a group of privileges, allowing users to work with larger logical pieces rather than with many small and detailed privileges.

Actual permissions are granted by privileges. Duties wouldn't be strictly necessary, but they significantly simplify security setup.

    Hi Christian,

The main difference is that duties consist of priviliges and the priviliges consist of menu items ect. Every menu item we create we must assign to privilige. Role can have only priviliges but duty is nice thing in between. We can not assign menu item to duty.

    Best regards

You can find a pretty good description in the product documentation: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/unified-operations/dev-itpro/sysadmin/role-based-security

Duties  - Duties contain privileges. The administrator assigns duties to security roles. A duty can be assigned to more than one role. Both duties and privileges can be assigned to security roles. You can assign related duties to separate roles.

Privilege - A privilege specifies the level of access that is required to perform a job, solve a problem, or complete an assignment. Privileges can be assigned directly to roles. A privilege contains permissions to individual application objects, such as user interface elements and tables.

    Hi CJ,

Duty himself did nothing. Duty is used to group privileges that help users complete a process.
Privileges, You can refer to permissions and entry points, such as access levels, tables, methods, or form permissions.
