The idea behind this blog is to identify the best approach for Integration with Third-party .net application

While reading through the various integration method in D365, I am confused between the Odata Integration and Custom Service Integration. Both support JSON/Soap.

Which method should be preferred and when and why.

No, OData isn't SOAP. Only custom services have two endpoints: SOAP and JSON-based.

OData services are primarily oriented on documents, querying and CRUD (create, read, update, delete).

Custom services are about remote procedure calls: you can all procedure with certain parameters and (optionally) get some data back.
