A default receive location has not been set for warehouse

am currently looking at turning off a Default receive location at a branch level.  This meaning Branches need to register the goods in to there correct location rather than a default location.

then I tried to transfer item between 2 warehouse , one of them is WMS activated and the default issue and receipt location is already filled up and the other is just normal warehouse without WMS activation and no default receipt location as well.

when I release to warehouse I get the following error:
A default receive location has not been set for warehouse DN.

could someone advice is that a normal behavior for AX or its a bug ?

WMS managed warehouses require a default receipt location - it's part of the functionality that drives the put-away work in the warehouse.

But you don't have to have a receipt location defined on a warehouse that isn't using the WHS functions - as you say you can enter that upon receipt.

yes I knew that , but why should I fill a default receipt location for the receiving warehouse which is not using WMS , every time am trying to release the work at transfer orders , update declined and no waves created because I don't have a receipt location for the receiving warehouse , should I have a default one here also or this is a bug ?

If you are releasing to Warehouse, then DN must be setup to use warehouse management processes. However your post below indicates that it's not. Confirm that the checkbox on the Warehouse Management > Setup> Warehouse > Warehouse management fly out is not checked. If it is not checked, but you somehow are able to release to the warehouse, then it sounds like you have a data corruption issue, and need to look at the settings in the InventLocation (warehouse) table.

As someone else stated, only warehouses set to use warehouse management will require a default receipt location.

Once this is set, it cannot be undone.

I cant actually release the work because it asks me about a default receipt location for DN warehouse ( this warehouse is not activated for WMS )

    Can you provide screen shots?
