UAT/DEV CRM - emails send to a shared mailbox/dedicated mailbox instead of my personal mailbox

Hi,

I was wondering if there is a way for me to send test emails/automated emails from testing and development environments to a dedicated mailbox or shared mailbox  in outlook? instead of it coming into my personal outlook mailbox whenever I am testing a new automated email functionality.

Thanks,

Komal

    Hello Komal,

Yes. You can first create your shared mailbox in Exchange to whatever address you like for example test@abc.com and in Dynamics you can create a queue mailbox by navigating to Settings > business management > queues > click +new to create a new queue mailbox and type in the name of the shared mailbox and the incoming email to "test@abc.com"

Once the queue is created. Then you would navigate to settings > email configuration > mailboxes > open up the mailbox and approve and test and enable like you would any other normal user mailbox. Once configured successfully you can send emails to the queue and they would land into the shared mailbox within Outlook.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks,

    Tyson

    Hello Komal, Tyson,

Are you working with a cloud or on premise Dynamics environment? Is the solution good for both?

    Thanks,

Thank you Tyson. Just a quick question Isnt the solution you proposed is for Cloud version.? We are currently working on Premise for dynamics 365.

    Hello,

This solution would work for both On-prem or Cloud. The steps would be the same. Create a queue mailbox and then connect it via server side sync.

The server side sync connection would be different though depending on if you are:

Dynamics On-prem to Exchange Online: Connect Dynamics 365 (on-premises) to Exchange Online | Microsoft Docs

Dynamics On-prem to Exchange on-prem: Connect Dynamics 365 (on-premises) to Exchange Server (on-premises) | Microsoft Docs

Dynamics online to Exchange online: Connect Dynamics 365 (online) to Exchange Online | Microsoft Docs

Dynamics online to Exchange on-prem: Connect Dynamics 365 (online) to Exchange Server (on-premises) | Microsoft Docs

    Thanks,

    Tyson
