Duplicate number in number sequence

We are using continuous number sequence for customer account in AR. We are facing a frequent issue with customer account numbers. As you can see below the next number system generates for customer account is a duplicate and has already been used.

Looking at the status list for this number sequence, we can see that 2319 has status "Free" and that's why system picks this one as the next number.

The question is how can a number be available in the status list when it has already been consumed? We are also using automatic cleanup for this number sequence as recommend by MS.

Is this a bug or are we missing some configuration? Please advice. Thanks!

    Hi Muhammad,

Do you have customizations or processes where you import customers? It could be related to a customization as well. If you don't have them, like Ievgen mentioned, you can log an incident for Microsoft Support.

    Hi Blue,

This is what we are doing as a workaround, deleting from the status list. However the issue pops up again after sometime which is frustrating.

    Hi Muhammad,
Sorry, I failed to reproduce your problem.

The reason should be caused by continuous in Number sequence (maybe it's a bug as others say)
Did you try to manually delete '2319' with status free? (Alt+F9).
Let it get to the next number.

I hope it will help you.

RE: Duplicate number in number sequence

    Hi Mohammed,

We have had issues with continuous number sequence in past (not D365 yet). Sometime numbers are skipped and strange is that issue can't be reproduced all the time. Only option is to correct them as needed.

Then if you can repro it, just a log a bug.

We are using standard application which means no mods. Customers are being created manually. Yes we have a regulatory requirement to use continuous number sequence so that no numbers get skipped.

It's probably a bug, because allocated numbers should not be there, so if you have no mods in this area and did not import customers via data migrations\OData you can log a bug. However, why do you use continuous number seq at all ? It has bad performance and recommended to use only if you have legal requirements and I'm not aware of any in AU.
