I've been researching security in dynamics 365 online. I've found an encryption key for each instance in the admin center, and another encryption setting within the instances settings. I can't find much about what they actually encrypt. From what I've found, there's only a few email password related cells that are encrypted. Is this the only thing encrypted in dynamics 365 online?  Is the entire instance encrypted on Microsoft's servers? Is the entire database encrypted? I just can't imagine that the data housed in this is not encrypted more than this.

    Hi,

    As I know, Dynamics 365 uses standard SQL Server cell level encryption for a set of default entity attributes that contain sensitive information, such as user names and email passwords. This feature can help organizations meet FIPS 140-2 compliance.

    For Dynamics 365 (online), all new and upgraded organizations use data encryption by default. Data encryption can’t be turned off.

    This is the exact information I have been reading.  But the list of default cells that are encrypted is not much of anything.  Is the online database really not encrypted on the server?  are these default entity attributes the ONLY data that is encrypted?
