    Hi,

Doesn't your ISV supplier provide a detailed setup and configuration guide?

I would recommend contacting them because even if you have installed the ISV solution you need to configure it correctly before you can test it.

That would be pretty difficult without a detailed manual.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

Did your ISV provide any instructions? If not, please refer to MS documentation - links shared below.

You need to choose if you want to install the models or the deployable package. Only models contain the source code. So if you want to see the ISV source code, you must install the models, and not the deployable package.

    How to install models: docs.microsoft.com/.../models-export-import

Only deployable package can be installed via LCS. Upload the deployable package to Asset Library, and use "Apply updates" in the environment details in LCS to install it.

The "keys" file most likely contains your license for the ISV solution. This article contains info about importing ISV license to dev and test/prod environments: docs.microsoft.com/.../isv-licensing

Also remember to check in the ISV solution in your source control, so that you can build one deployable package that contains your customizations and the ISV solution. Then apply this package to your test and prod systems.

    Thanks for valuable reply Nikolaos.

I need to have source code for extension customizations on top of ISV Model. So as per your advice i will go for Model Import option. I would like to go with below steps,

Step 1: Model Import - Installing a model in a development environment

(ModelUtil.exe -import -metadatastorepath=[path of the metadata store where model should be imported] -file=[full path of the file to import])

    docs.microsoft.com/.../models-export-import

    OR

Model import and export in D365 Finance and Operations using Powershell

    community.dynamics.com/.../model-import-and-export-in-d365-finance-and-operations-using-powershell

Step 2: Apply a license key in a dev environment:

C:\AOSService\PackagesLocalDirectory\Bin\Microsoft.Dynamics.AX.Deployment.Setup.exe --setupmode importlicensefile --metadatadir c:\packages --bindir c:\packages --sqlserver . --sqldatabase axdbrain --sqluser AOSUser --sqlpwd ******** --licensefilename c:\templicense.txt

    axtechsolutions.blogspot.com/.../how-to-enable-licensing-for-your-isv.html

Step 3: UAT and PROD License Key Update via LCS Package

    docs.microsoft.com/.../isv-licensing

Step 3.1 extract the package ImportISVLicense.zip ( which is available From <PackagesFolder>\bin\CustomDeployablePackage\)

Step 3.2 put the isv license key file into the AosService\Scripts\License folder

Step 3.3. zip up the ImportISVLicense package and you can follow the standard instruction to deploy the deployable package to UAT and PROD

Step 3.4 Upload the This ImportISVLicense Package in LCS Asset Library and apply this package in UAT and PROD to enable ISV license Key File.

Kindly advice is there anything Am i missing for ISV Package Deploy?

    BR,

    Shyam

Seems about right. It's still recommended to ask the ISV for detailed instructions and any special details regarding their solution. About your question about which instructions to follow for model installation, just take use official documentation in docs site.

Also, you can put the ISV license file in the deployable package that comes out of your build process. Then apply everything to test/prod in one go.

    Hi Nikolaos,

Hope you are doing well and safe.

I have configured new 10 version dev box. I'm little bit confused in whether i need to install ISV model first OR do i need to connect the development environment to DevOps to bring old dev box codes to new Dev box.

Which step is to go first and next?

Installing new ISV Model OR connect the development environment to DevOps.

    Kindly advice.

I personally like to first set up my workspace before doing anything else on a new dev VM.

But in this scenario it doesn't matter (technically) which one you do first. Just remember to add the ISV solution (including model descriptor) to source control once you have installed it and set up your workspace in Visual Studio.
