Merging contacts and history

Hi All

We have this business requirement. When customer contact moves to a different customer , say John moved from Coke to Pepsi, we want to capture the sales history and comms. Obviously the email now changes to JohnAtPepsi.com . What are the options and ideas to handle this kind of scenarios in Dynamics Sales or for reporting?

Hi,

Is there a business need for it to be the same contact record? You could just deactivate the old contact and see all of the sales history for coke as his contact from coke and then create a new contact for him at Pepsi. You could use a connection or something to link the 2 records together.

If you have Sales History and Comms as a seperate entity then you point to the new contact.

Thanks for all the answers. For linking sales history , connections works best without an actual table level data migration so the use case is to keep track of sales history and comms
