Request for Individual Full User License for Contoso Environment

Hi Everyone,

I would like to request individual access to the Contoso environment. Is it possible to obtain a single "Full User" license from Microsoft for personal use, or is the only available option to purchase a minimum of 20 user licenses, which are then issued to a software house or a client organization rather than to an individual?

Hi Raheel,

First of, if it's for production usage: Nope, no way to circumvent the minimum seat amount. And that I can almost say about all Dynamics products with certainty.

Dynamics is tailored to SMB/Enterprise segment.

If it's just a trial Contoso then you have different options, but it depends on the product. What kind of product do you want to use for personal use?

Hi Raheel,

There is no individual license for Dynamics 365 Finance, SCM, Commerce. There are customer licenses that require a minimum of 20 users per license SKU. As a partner, you can acquire an action pack that includes a sandbox deployment of F&O.

If you have an organizational account, a global administrator can "purchase" a trial license of Dynamics 365 Finance Premium or SCM Premium via the Market place on the Microsoft365 Admin Center and deploy a trial environment via Power Platform Admin Center.

Hi Holly,

Thank you for the information regarding trial access to Dynamics 365 applications. I understand that Microsoft provides free trials which may include temporary access to the Contoso environment for evaluation purposes.

Could you please guide me on how I can subscribe to such a trial environment? I would appreciate any links or instructions you can share to help me get started.

Currently, I was following this Bing Videos but not getting the Finance and Operation URL from power platform admin center.

Could you please advise me on how I can gain paid access to a Finance & Operations environment, considering I don't have access to a software house setup or client machines?
Currently, I’m using the 1-hour Microsoft Dynamics training lab, but it doesn’t fully meet my requirements.
Appreciate your guidance on this.

I will keep my eye posted on the thread and see if you get a reply; Normally you provision a new subscription-based trial environment from PPAC.

Can you elaborate what you mean by "not getting the Finance and Operation URL from power platform admin center"?
Were you able to acquire a license and deploy a trial environment? If so, do you have a "CRM" URL on the environment page?
If you can answer all these questions with "yes", the you can start editing the environment details and change e.g. the Purpose of the environment. Then save the changes. This will refresh all information and can reveal the F&O URL.

Hi Raheel,

Can you tell the steps how you deployed this environment? Via the top menu (not left menu) Resources > Dynamics 365, which apps are installed? Can you find the apps Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations Platform Tools and Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations Provisioning App in Installed or Update available state?

If not, you probably missed the configuration to use a template for Dynamics 365 F&O. In that case, you can go to Resources > Dynamics 365 Apps via the left menu and install them in the order as mentioned above. Wait for the first one to be completed before start the deployment of the second app. On the second app, there are options to choose to have demo data or not. Ensure you will deploy including the demo data.

The first app usually takes between 10 and 15 minutes. The second one can take between 60 and 75 minutes.
