Master planning multiple warehouses

Hi all,

I have an MRP question...

We have two warehouses - warehouse 1 is where we keep all of our raw materials for production.  Warehouse 2 is where things get stored until they are quality inspected and ready to be used in production.   Once they are inspected they are transferred over to warehouse 1.  Is it possible to take into account warehouse 2 in net requirements when you have PO’s coming in? MRP will ask to place new order when we already have orders coming into warehouse 2 to be inspected prior to moving to warehouse 1?

Thanks,

Rosey

Declare W1 as being re-filled by W2.  W2 is supplied by purchase orders.  You'll get planned transfer orders from W2 to W1 but you can just ignore them.

Alternatively you could de-select 'Coverage by dimension' in the Warehouse on the Item's Storage Dimension group - then the system plans all demands at the Site level (and uses all inventory in all warehouses in the Site)

At 2009 things were different- Site existed, but was not mandatory.

In Ax 2012  a Site is mandatory - .in the Storage dimension group we cannot uncheck “coverage plan by dimension” for a Site. So, Master planning will always at least run by site, and not not by company. There is thus no such thing as “MRP by company” (unless you only have a single site). “

The Ax system considers all the warehouses when the MRP is setup to run by Site even if the warehouse is setup as manual.

To exclude a particular warehouse from MRP, setup  MRP to run by warehouse

You can decide whether to also go into a DRP set up with refilling form a central warehouse, and to plan within each Site by Warehouse.  Its a fundamental policy decision which will vary by business.

There are several prior posts in this forum, so I suggest log your requirement as an enhancement - it will get votes.
