My excel download file does not contain Financial Dimension

Posted on by 126
Hello everyone,

I have a custom table which is one of its field is DefaultDimension. As usual, this is for Financial Dimension.

I also created it's data entity for this table, and it looks fine, it can show me the Default dimension value.
When checking through OData url, I can see the field ->

Also when checking in Data Management for that Data Entity, the field is there,  by checking the mapping field or target field.

Issue is, in its form it self, when I try to download using Office button -> Export to excel, the excel didn't have this DefaultDimesionDisplayValue.

Is there anything that I must do ?

    Hi Anton,

    No, there is no Lookup.

Btw, about the Financial Dimension, lets say Cost Center, I noticed in your screenshot (before deleted), the column name appeared to be "Defaultdimension.Costcenter".  This is actually different with mine.

Because I drag manually the Cost center field from the custom entity structure -> from table (2nd data source) DefaultDimensionSet, into my entity's field. This field appeared in Excel. But the column name will be CostCenter (as the field name), it doesn't have the table name infront. I wonder why it is different.

Anyway, back to the lookup I confirmed there is no lookup.

    Thanks.

    Hi,

From your screenshots and explanation, I don't see anything wrong with your setup. I checked one of my own custom entities which also contains the financial default dimensions. Against my expectation, I see that none of the financial dimensions fields has a lookup in Excel.

I will have to update it as well. Are you seeing a lookup with the Cost Center field?

My excel download file does not contain Financial Dimension
    Hi Anton,

No problem, let me summaries my issue.

First, I have a custom table which having DefaultDimension field which I already created its data entity. This data entity then had child data source to DefaultDimensionDSE with join the DefaultDimension field from my table to DefaultDimension.Recid. (btw, yes the field name in my table is DimensionDefault as in its EDT, guess there is no issue about it)

Second, based on this blog https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/fin-ops-core/dev-itpro/financial/dimensions-overview, I check my DimensionSetEntity, and it already have extension called "DimensionSetEntity.DimensionIntegration"
And based on this blog https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/fin-ops-core/dev-itpro/financial/add-dimensions-excel-templates?source=recommendations, I added the relation to each of the field of my Financial Dimensions with each have the correct properties.

after Build and synchronized. Download the template file from Open in Excel, Click Design on the right panel, I can't any Financial Dimension field to add :

Third, so I tried to add manually the Financial Dimension field from DefaultDimensionDSE to my custom entity. And this time those field I just added appear, but it has no Lookup on the right panel of the Excel template:

    Thanks

    Hi,

    First start from this document:

Note: It is not necessary to add lookup to each dimension, but for import case you'll enter the value manually.

    Thanks,

    Hi Waed,

I'm sorry, I have trouble of understanding that document. May I get some "pointer" first what actually needed ?

I'm not expecting that the Excel file I am download can also able to do lookup. But then again, if no lookup I also not sure if there are only columns, I can use it for import.

    thanks.

My data entity already have all the field now from Financial Dimension, because I'm using View DefaultDimensionDAVS

And in Data Management, after Refresh Entity, I saw all these fields already :

But I don't know why after Open in Excel, all these fields still not showing. It looks like it is still follow what's in the UI Grid :

May I know what is wrong ?

    Thanks
