Cannot read property 'addGlobalNotification' of undefined

Hi Everyone,

We are exploring the possibility of using GlobalNotification (Xrm.App.addGlobalNotification) in our Dynamics 365 on-premise implementation.

Our current version is: Version 1612 (9.0.17.8) (DB 9.0.11.9) on-premises

I call below function onLoad and i noticed we received following error message:

TypeError: Cannot read property 'addGlobalNotification' of undefined

Further checking we found the Xrm.App is undefined. 

Hope someone from the Forum could advice, if the Xrm.App available in 9.0.17.8.

    Just to confirm, are you testing in the unified interface, right ?.

    The mentioned code will work only in Unified Interface App

    Hello Anees,

    As per public article - docs.microsoft.com/.../addglobalnotification it applies for model-driven apps but not sure if CRM on-premise has this functionality and please make sure you are checking it in UCI apps and not in web client as this is suppose to only work in UCI apps. Found this article - linnzawwin.blogspot.com/.../show-global-notification-on-load-of.html so just sharing with you, not sure if it would help.

    Also, I would suggest to update the DB version to match the application version as it may cause other issues in environment because of version mismatch.

    Yes, I'm using it in UCI...

    I wonder if this feature available in 9.0.17.8??

    Hi Anees,

    Seems to me that you are on an On-Premise release (version 9.0).

    Xrm.App and addGlobalNotification/clearGlobalNotification were introduced to the Online version in March/April 2020 timeframe.

    You will not see this available in your version until the next major upgrade to the On-Premise version of Dynamics. I don't know exactly when that date is.

    Hope this helps.
