SSRS Report Dataset Not Refreshing, so that unable to add the new fields to the report

If I make change to the report dataset (query or class), the dataset does not refresh in the Visual Studio.  I am supposed to be system administrator.  Our consultant is also a system administrator, but he is able to see the changes to the dataset.  He can see the dataset refresh and add the new fields to the report.  I am only able to add it when he refreshes the dataset.  Moreover, I notice that the class is not showing that I made a change to it.  I have tried compiling, generate CIL and delete usage data but still not able to do it. I was able to do this in our R1 AX2012 version, but since we upgraded, it seems that I lost permissions that allows me to do this.  Does anyone know what permissions I might be missing or the cause of this problem?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can you please elaborate the sentence "Moreover, I notice that the class is not showing that I made a change to it.", please?

It might suggests that the report works correctly - there are no changes in the dataset to show, if you haven't been able to save them.

If you see your changes in AX but not in Visual Studio, maybe your VS is connected to another AX instance.

I added the new field in the class DP (also added to the temp table so that I can populate), but the change by and date does not show I changed it.  When our consultant developer refreshes the dataset and saves the report, the new field becomes available for me to see and add.  If I refresh in VS, the field disappears.

If your changes to the class aren't saved, what changes do you expect to see in the report? Shouldn't you focus on the problem with saving?

Again, you please elaborate what you mean by "the change by and date does not show I changed it"? How did you do the change and how did you check it? Are you able to save other changes in this environment?

Hi Martin.  First thanks for your responses.  I spoke to our developer and according to him, even though I add code to existing class (DP class), the change by and change date will sometimes not change (in the class properties).  I actually just got off the phone with him and he told me that my VS profile is actually (as you suspected) pointed to another instance, hence why the fields disappear when I refresh.  His profile is pointed to the instance I am making changes to, therefore he can see my changes.  I think we have figured it out.  I need to be in the instance where my VS is pointed to so that I will be able to see my changes and modify the report.
