Daily data import in dynamics

Hi,

We have a requirement where  we will be receiving clients logging details from our portal in a file and we look to import this data on a daily basis in our on-premise d365 solution. Format of the file is unknown at the moment but could be a .csv

Is there a way to automate this process of importing data on a daily basis. Is there any limitations to the file type, any pros and cons to this approach.

Any ideas or suggestions will be helpful.

Thanks,

PS

    HI,

    Thank you for the query.

You can use Power Automate to automate this process, you would need a Data Connector to connect to your D365 On premise instance and an Excel connector or any other supported connection based on the Format, on Power Automate to trigger the Flow on a Daily Schedule,

    Hi,

There is no way to schedule Data Import in Dynamics 365 (using built-in Import feature).

    I would suggest the following:

    • Microsoft Flow: create a flow that triggers daily and reads the CSV file from FTP/SFTP and uses the Common Data Service connector to create (import) data in D365.
    • Integration Tools: you can use a tool like SSIS with KingswaySoft connector or Tibco Scribe to read the file from a folder (or FTP) daily and load it in CRM (not free).

    https://www.kingswaysoft.com/

    https://www.tibco.com/solutions/microsoft-dynamics-365-integration

When using the above tools (including flow), there are no limitations on file type, it could be a CSV, TSV, Excel, JSON, etc. However, CSV is preferred and easier to parse/handle.

Let me know if you need further information.

    Best,

    Wahaj
