Hi, everyone!
We currently have Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2016 (On-premises) and Exchange online. After the new Microsoft update disabled Basic Authentication, we want to move from Basic Authentication to Modern Authentication Has anyone tried in some way to implement this solution or another similar solution ?
We appreciate your ideas and recommendations.
Hello Michel,
Hope you are well.
If using the hybrid exchange connector, that deprecation should not have any impact:

Hi Pedro,
Thanks for your response.
We have seen this article before, but this article is about the latest CRM version 9.1 and we have an old CRM version 8.1 (2016).
Is there an impact of applying this article to version 8.1 (2016)?
Thank you for the reply.
I need to stop myself about talking about v8.1 since that version is no longer supported:
learn.microsoft.com/.../dynamics-crm-2016-dynamics-365
Moving to v8.2 (365), documentation is similar to v9 in regards to using the hybrid connector.
learn.microsoft.com/.../mt703269(v=crm.8)
Many thanks for your support.
Unfortunately, we do not use the hybrid connector, we only use Exchange Online. Does the article content support v8.2?
because we want to move to v8.2 and start applying it?
The Exchange Online (Hybrid) connector was created to serve properly the Hybrid scenario (CRM onprem + EXO online).
If you are using the standard Exchange Server profile, you should not.
Please evaluate using instead the Hybrid profile/connector with server-based authentication to protect against any future deprecation.
The shared documentation also applies to v8.2.
CRM was started to be called dynamics 365 after 8.2 update.
Server synchronization is supported for Dynamics On-Premises and Exchange Online integrations.

Hi Michel,
you can extend the basic authentication support till Dec2022 and start using basic auth protocol support, if in case its hampering any of your work and you need immediate resolution. aka.ms/PillarEXOBasicAuth is the link from where you can reset and go for basic auth again.
server side synchronization is the solution for this. Dynamics provides an option to switch/Migrate from Email Router to Server side synchronization.
Refer - learn.microsoft.com/.../migrate-settings-email-router-server-side-synchronization
Does it means , if Microsoft disable Basic Authentication then still SSS will work w/o any authentication errors?
